More Not Ready For Prime Time Crime!
Police in Pittsburgh are looking for another thief who's clearly not ready for prime time crime. The convenience store robber got away with seven packs of cigarettes and $66 bucks in cash after robbing the Uni-Mart in the city's Troy Hill section. The suspect wore a ski mask and ball cap and pointed a handgun at a clerk who gave him the money. But on his way out he dropped all but $1.00 of the cash. Nobody was hurt and police are reviewing surveillance video to try and identify the idiot. (myway.com)
Mother of the Year -- Not!
In Clarksburg, West Virginia, police arrested and charged Lucretia Mazzei with child neglect and creating risk of injury after she took her kids, ages 3 and 5, to a McDonald's and passed out -- not once but twice! Restaurant employees said they found her passed out first in the bathroom and then on a bench near the outdoor play place where her children were playing. Police were called and they took Lucretia first to United Hospital Center for treatment and then to jail. (The State Journal)
Blockbuster Has Racked Up Quite a Few Late Fees!
Remember all those late fees Blockbuster used to charge you back in the day? Well now it seems the shoe is on the other foot as the once video rental giant is negotiating with bondholders to obtain $150 million in debtor-in-possession financing that would allow the company to operate while in bankruptcy. A recent securities filing puts Blockbuster's debt at around $895 million -- a concern that has prompted analysts to follow developments at the company closely. But yet they're still asking for more time to settle their debts and more operating income to boot. Because apparently they can't see what the rest of us already know -- the DVD/Video rental biz is over. Even the president of Net Flicks says he anticipates only 2 more years' life for DVDs before everyone is downloading movies or ordering from their cable boxes. Sorry Blockbuster.
